Installing Spare Tire Hoist on a 2024-up Hyundai SantaFe Hybrid
Wondering if its possible to install a spare tire/wheel on a 2024 Santa Fe Hybrid? Yes. Just buy a carrier from a non Hybrid model. See below for details.
Why did Hyundai not install a spare tire on the ’24 ’25 Santa Fe Hybrid? Its because they are trying to cut cost. Its not a MPG reason. Not a weight issue. Just pure cost cutting.
So if you want to install a spare on your Hybrid, here is how:
How to install spare tire hoist on a ’24 SantaFe Hybrid
1. Find spare tire hoist. OEM part number is 62800-R6100. It’s made for a 2024.
NOTE!!: previous generation SantaFe hoist WILL NOT WORK!!!
So do not go to the junk yard or don’t believe eBay listings that advertise 2020-2024. It will not work
2. Get 11mm socket ans remove 3 bolts from the side and 3 bolts from the center.
3. Align the hoist with the holes and attach it with bolts you just removed. Tighten the bolts as much as you can. I don’t have torque figures.
4. Spare tire. Well, OEM spare wheel and tire is around $350. So find out from previous year models.
Spare tire from these cars will work too:
– Kia Sorento
– Kia sportage
– Hyundai Tuscan
– Maybe Telluride or Palisade
5. For jack and wrench, I went to amazon and got 17.4″ high, 3Ton jack. You may be ok with just a 2 ton but I went with a 3 ton. https://amzn.to/3WSMTVy
Important. Note that wheel/rim must be 5×114.3 with 67.1 center borehub. Be careful, this is a popular wheel bolt spacing in many cars but hub bore size is different.
OEM spare tire – 135/70-17. Part #005KM-50052-73
17″ OEM rim Part# 52919-R5100
